THIS PATTERN MAY NOT BE REPRODUCED, SOLD OR DISTRIBUTED IN ANY WAY THOUGH IT MAY BE USED FOR PERSONAL OR CHARITY USE! Thank you.
Okay.....I have finished the final pattern for my crocheted ribbed jumper.
The body is done in the round after starting with the bottom ribbing.
The sleeves/neck area will be two pieces as it makes for a
better stretch.
Here it is:
Sizing for this jumper is 9-12 month old baby. But by increasing all measurments evenly it can easily be adapted to a bigger or smaller size.
I will work in measurments so if you use a smaller hook or ply it will
still be the same.
I used ordinary 8 ply yarn and a 4.5mm hook.
This forms the bottom ribbing....
CH a length of 8cm (my case 10 ch)
CH 1 then in next ST SC in the back loop only, CH 1 turn. REP until
ribbing measures 34cm long.
Join both ends of the ribbing with SL ST.
Now working in the round to form the body along the side of the ribbing ....SC in each st until you have 62 stitches around, SL ST to first.
Round 2:
4 DC in first ST (this forms the side increase) then 30 DC across, 4
DC in next ST then another 30 DC across, SL ST to frst.
Continue in rounds with a SC in each ST until work measures 13cm from
DC row.
Last round DEC next 2 ST, continue across to other side then DEC next
2 ST continue across REM ST and join with SL ST to first.( this pulls
back in the sides). Finish off.
Sleeves/Neck
CH to make a 15cm length (my case 15 ch)
CH 1 cont with SC in back loop only CH 1 turn. REP til you have 14cm
length each arm and whatever your body measures with the ribbing
slighty stretched over body stitches.ie 14cm + 14cm + Body width.
MAKE TWO.
This makes the top and all you do is sew it to the body then sew up
the arms and along the neck leaving a 19cm opening.
NOTE
The body can be made in any stitch you like but only after the DC row has been done first with the increases.
Here is the same jumper worked with a different body stitch:

this looks exactly like patterns found on Knit A Square charity site for AIDS orphans in south africa. do you have any affiliation with that group?
No affiliation but I had a few requests for a crochet jumper in the same style as the knitted one so that people who only crocheted could donate to the cause as well :)
