Newborn Hugs and Kisses Cabled Pants

This is a pattern that I designed using the hugs and Kisses cable pattern. I had trouble understanding most of the pants patterns out there so thought I'd make up my own and also add the adorable cables down the sides of each leg.
The pattern is written out as simple as I could get it but it is best to read thru first to make you familiar with the INC changes.....!

Sizing: 0-3 months

I used a 4ply baby yarn.
2.75mm and 3.25 mm needles, you will also need a cable needle.

Special abbrevs: C4B - slip two sts off left needle to cable needle, hold at back, knit next
2 sts from left needle then knit both from cable needle.
C4F - slip two sts off left needle to cable needle, hold at front, knit next
2 sts from left needle then knit both from cable needle.

PANT LEG - Make two.

BEG at lower cuff with 2.75mm cast on 46st. Work K2, P2 rib for one inch ending with a right side row and having increased 6 STs evenly across last row. ( 52st ).
Change to 3.25mm and purl a row.

Body Pattern:

Row 1: (RS) K20, P2, C4B, C4F, P2, K20

Row 2 and all following even rows: P20, K the K sts, P the P sts, P20

IMPORTANT: Starting on row 3, INC one st each edge every 12th row 4 times. Keeping note of changing numbers for your first and last K or P group each row. ( 60 ST ) INC's should end on a row 17.

Row 3: K2_, P2, K8, P2, K2_

Row 5: K2_, P2, K8, P2, K2_

Row 7: K2_, P2, K8, P2, K2_
Row 9: K2_, P2, K8, P2, K2_

Row 11: K2_, P2, K8, P2, K2_

Row 13: K2_, P2, C4F, C4B, P2, K2_

Row 15: K2_, P2, K8, P2, K2_

Row 17: K2_, P2, K8, P2, K2_

Row 19: K2_, P2, C4B, C4F, P2, K2_

Row 21: K2_, P2, K8, P2, K2_
Row 22: Same as all previous even numbered rows!

After you reach your last INC row on the 17th row continue on working pattern even until work measures 7 1/2 IN from BEG ending with a WS row.

CROTCH SHAPING:

Bind off 3 ST at BEG of next two rows (56ST ).

DEC 1 ST each edge every 2nd row 3 times ( 50st ).

CONT in pattern to 13IN from BEG ending with a RS row.

Change to smaller needles

Row 1: WS P2 ( K2, P2 )

Row 2: K2 ( P2 K2 )

REP ribbing to 1 IN end with WS row then Bind off.

To finish fold each leg piece in half lengthways with cable on the outer leg side and sew leg and crotch seams.
