Our vege garden....

We are trying to live our lives with respect and thought for our beautiful planet....true, we don't always tread lightly but each day we aim high and add another environmentally conscious act to our list.
This is our vege garden, it's a work in progress as all gardens are, and it's here that we spend a lot of time as a family. It's relaxing and fun at the same time.......we get yummy things to eat and our children get dirty (oh so much fun for any child) for a purpose.

This is the WIP of our vege gardens......
This is our strawberry patch.....our kids adore strawberries so we have to grow a lot

And this mornings pick......

Our patch of mint......it WAS a small plant......

The sunflower seeds our boys helped Daddy plant.....

And this is Daddy's project.....growing pines native to our area.

It's spring here on my side of the world and mother nature sure has put on a display - these pics are just a few of the flowers brightening my days.......

And of course the other things brightening my days:

My beautiful new daughter Calliope, she's 8 weeks now - this is her in one of her fav positions....snuggled against me in my babywearing mei tai wrap.

And a cheerful shipment of yarny goodness - this lot is from 'Family Pendragon'.....highly recommend their dyeing skills and yarns!!!!

And sewing.....I find hand sewing so relaxing and comforting. These cute organic cotton embellished baby tees can be found in my shop :)

More scarves #2

Probably not the most exciting post as it's quite similar to the last one.....here are the pics of my latest hooking efforts - More Scarves.....I've gotten a lot of interest in these and have been busy completing my wwfy list.
The first two are an order for Kelly.....I'm quite impressed with my photography of late :)

This would have to be my favorite!

And these two are #2 and #3 of a total of six scarves for Mel........

Going to have a wee break from crochet while I finish a test knit but then it's on to scarf #4 for Mel - a lovely deep red!

Calliope and her name...

Introducing lil "Calliope Hartlyn" .....Our newest family member was born on the 3/7/12.

Her name is a special one (as are all our childrens names) that came to me one night as I was drifting off to sleep....I hadn't been thinking of names at the time and it certainly hadn't been a name I had come across before so I kind of ignored it.....anyway a few days later it popped in my head again and curiosity got the better of me and on the internet I went searching for what it was. The more I read the more I liked it and so I told my husband who immediately said he loved it too.
It was a hard name at first as we would forget it....we'd look at each other and say 'what were we thinking of naming her' LOL took us quite a while for it to stick in our heads but it was determined and we knew it was a sign that it was our daughters name.

Pronounced ka-LYE-ah-pee it is of Greek origin and means 'beautiful voice'.
In Greek mythology Calliope was the eldest of the muses and named 'muse of epic poetry' and also the goddess of eloquence which she bestowed on princes and kings.
It is also believed that she was Homer's muse and the inspiration for the poem 'Odyssey'.

'The Queens boy' is the title of this one.....for my Angelus!

Another new baby knit in a yarn I've held onto forever....soft, squishy and oh so pretty!
On my needles right now is a 'baby vertebrae' for a WWFY knit.....It's been requested in two row stripes and is looking very stylish - I'll post a piccy once I divide for the sleeves :)
I'm also about to start a crocheted vest for my eldest son but I can't decide on buttons or a zipper?????
What do you think?

AND look at this yarny goodness......so soft and buttery!
1272g of corridale x…..swoon ♥
From a rescue sheep, Pavlova, at the 'New Gully Santuary'. When they shear her they process the yarn completely and then handpaint it - I got every last bit of this season!!!!
All proceeds to the sanctuary which they run.

Finding silence...ordinary beauty...

Shards of frozen water across the top of my glass,
 The light of the window
so delicate and pretty
yet ordinary.

It was a rare moment of silence and oneness that held me still and let me look instead of letting the thin layer dissolve unseen for the beauty that it was.....for that moment I am grateful.
